Frequently asked questions

ISO 9001 — frequently asked questions

What Is ISO 9001?

The ISO 9001 Standard is, essentially, a control mechanism. Its purpose is to reduce and eliminate errors and defects and, more importantly, to prevent errors and defects that could occur. The standard is not directly concerned with the quality of products and services, but with the quality of the management system.

What Is the Validity Period of ISO 9001?

An ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certificate is issued for a three-year period. The validity period of an ISO certificate begins on the certificate issue date, following the certification audit carried out by the ISO certification body.

What Are the Clauses of ISO 9001?
  • Scope: The field and boundaries in which the standard applies.
  • Normative References: Related guidance and standard references.
  • Terms and Definitions: Key concepts used in the quality management system.
  • Context of the Organisation: Analysis of internal/external issues, interested party expectations and the effects of climate change and sustainability.

  • Planning: Quality objectives, change management, and managing risks and opportunities clearly separated.
  • Support: Human resources, infrastructure, organisational knowledge, competence and ethical awareness requirements.
